One Wagner SuperTech Replaces Two Competitors Booths
 When Tennsco realized they needed to move to a quick color change on their powder coating line, they chose Wagner Systems. As a manufacturer of a variety of steel office products, we (Tennsco) must constantly be looking for new ways to provide better value and service to our customers.Obviously, the painting of these products represents a critical function in our operation and in the appearance of the final product that our customer will live with for years.
Constraints we faced due to the lack of capabilities with our previous equipment included minimal control over film build thickness, and the time, space, equipment and labor required to achieve the ever-increasing demand for quicker and more frequent color changes.With this in mind, we began our project to seek out and procure the best system that would meet these current demands, as well as allow for future expansion.
We reviewed systems from several of the major equipment providers. After nearly 24 months of study and review, visits to powder coating shows, and even a trip to Europe to observe our products being painted in all the newest system designs on the market, Tennsco selectedWagner Systems to be the provider of our newest paint system.
Shipment, delivery and installation had to be coordinated to occur within a short, pre-planned shutdown of the line to remove the existing equipment, make some improvements to the powder paint room, and have the new system up and running within as short a time frame as possible. Delivery arrived as expected and Wagners installation crew worked long hours and through the weekend to have us up and running in our requested timeframe.
Startup of the new system was smooth and uneventful. Since the startup of the new Wagner system, we have seen our color change time shrink by ?, the amount of equipment for this line has been reduced from two booths to one, film thickness control and faraday cage penetration have improved dramatically, whereby our manual reinforcement has been cut by ? and with the DigiTech powder control package, recipes of all critical settings are now stored for each of our products,
allowing for more consistent coverage of each product and more flexibility in the scheduling of painting across various shifts.Wagner really came through for us and showed us why they are the leader in powder coating systems technology.
